Flying angel – the children heard the rustle of his wings!

Translation of the Russian press article of January 23rd, 2013

Pskov branch of the Russian Children’s Foundation and the Austrian charity association “Little Heart” (kleine herzen) joined their effort to succeed the wonderful “Christmas Angel” Project 2012, a total budget of around 25,000 euros. More than 500 children from 8 orphanages and boarding schools of the Pskov region became happier this Holiday Season – A Christmas Angel had flown for each of them and granted their wishes. Parents always have the opportunity to know their child’s heart’s desire and the wished gifts are welcomed. Boys and girls of boarding schools/orphanages can only dream about it because the best that orphanages can afford in our region is often the same clothes for all children, common games and toys and standard sweets for New Year. But every child believes in miracles, especially orphans! Pascale Vayer, Chairman of the Association, “Little Heart” (kleine herzen), knows this at firsthand. She is the mother of three adopted children, and for many years she has been helping children in need in Russia and the Ukraine. Pascale, the big magician of the project, found for each child a foreign sponsor who fulfilled his cherished desires and sent it to him. The Christmas Angels fly to the Pskov region for the second time. The successful experience and partnership of last year have significantly increased the scope of the project. In comparison, in 2011 the project covered three orphanages and a baby-home; in 2012 the Christmas angels came to the children of already eight boarding schools of our Region: Vorontsovskaya Opochetskaya, Pitalovo, Krasnogorodskaya, Idritsa, Porkhov boarding schools Velikoluksky orphanage and school, and Idritsa orphanage. Sponsors from Austria, Germany, Switzerland and many other European countries, carefully packaged individual gifts for children and sent them to Russia, offering the children their wishes and needs. The Directors and teachers of the boarding schools speak about the project: “These are wonderful gifts, children are very happy. All presents fit to the children. Big thanks from our little angels!” “It is a pleasure to work on this project, the children are happy. It is so exciting to look at them opening their package and also participate to their big enthusiasm when they discover the content. Indeed, we all heard the sound of the flying angel wings. Thank you.” The project brings joy not only to the main beneficiaries – the children, but to all of those who contributed to this project. For foreign sponsors and organizers it is a wonderful pleasure to see happy children’s faces. Project organizers hope that the successful experience of foreign sponsors inspire our Russian citizens to participate to the “Christmas Angels project” next year, giving a piece of warmth to children who do not have caring parents.
