We want to help children with terminal illnesses to die in peace and love.

Project for the opening of the first children's palliative care unit in Ukraine, in the heart of Kiev, at the Institute of Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The death of his child is something nobody thinks about, because it is too terrible. The death of a child is a tragedy, the most terrible of all dramas for his parents, who most often feel they lose most of their self.

Children with incurable diseases and their families are in urgent need of support. These children not only need medical care, but also psychological, social and spiritual care, which is what is meant by pediatric palliative medicine.

Unfortunately, there is no palliative system in Ukraine. Thousands of children and their parents suffer every day under unbearable pain.

Every year, there are more than 16.000 children in Ukraine who need palliative care. More than 1.000 of these children are still in their first year of life.

The goal of palliative care is to provide the best possible quality of life for the child and support his family. These include alleviating the child's symptoms, caring for and caring for the family until the time of death and during the mourning period.

In cooperation with its local partner, the non-profit organization Caritas-Spes Ukraine and the non-profit organization June 31, as well as the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology in Kiev, small hearts has started to implement the first child palliative care project in Ukraine.

“Some things and topics are very difficult to talk about. Incurable childhood diseases and childhood cancer in particular are one of them. But it's even more difficult anzu realize that we in Ukraine do not yet have a single children's hospice. The good news is that we are now on our way to launching the first in Ukraine. I address all Austrians who have shown their love for people several times with their deeds. Support the project! It's not about salvation. It's about the ultimate peace. And only with your help can the impossible become possible. "

Part 1 - Renovation of the palliative care unit

The children's hospice has been assigned 2 rooms at the Institute of Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology. These rooms are located in the 1.Stock of the building and need immediate refurbishment and refurbishment. The rooms must be cleaned of mold, sanitary facilities installed, running water and electricity produced. The walls are in a desolate condition and require repair.

Our loyal partner, the nonprofit association H. Stepic CEE Charity, has taken over the financing of the renovation, which should start soon.

Part 2 - medical equipment for the care of children

Furthermore, medical equipment is needed to take care of the children, from nursing beds and mattresses with special properties to monitoring instruments and respiratory equipment.

The children are surrounded by numerous devices. These devices monitor, for example, the circulatory function (monitor) or replace failed organ systems (ventilator, dialysis machine). To set up the palliative station, we need eg:

Medical beds, bedside cabinets. Tables with wheels, monitoring monitors, ventilators with monitoring functions, EKG monitors, ultrasound, syringe pumps, infusion pumps, infusion stands etc ...

Suitable equipment that is no longer needed in a European hospital is very welcome. Please report!
