A family helps a family

Allowing a family to support their children

Summer holidays under the sign of hunger for the children of children's homes in Russia. I need you more than ever!

I am the mother of 5 children who grew up in love, who never lacked for anything and, above all, were never hungry. Children in Russia are not doing as well as my children are at the moment.

The children who live in the children's homes in Pskov will leave their children's homes / boarding schools for three months due to the school holidays and return to their families. It will not be a vacation because many of them have families living in extreme poverty. The pandemic has taken a social toll: the children will not have enough to eat in their own homes.

As a mother and chairwoman from the bottom of my heart, I ask you:

Help me help!

The children's homes in Pskow have been supported by small hearts for more than 12 years. That was only possible thanks to your help! I appeal to your generosity and your social commitment to enable these children and their families to eat their fill.

Gulnara comes from a very low income family. Her mother cannot work because of a disability. The family lives separately from Elena's father; there is no support from him. Gulnara's mother Elena tries to keep the family afloat with her disability pension, but this is only around 100 euros a month. For cost reasons, the family recently moved in with relatives. There, too, everything is missing.

Anna and Nikita are housed as cousins in a boarding school. Their mothers are both single mothers and each have three children, but cannot rely on a solid and regular income due to the disastrous labor market. To make ends meet, they collect tree fruits, grow vegetables and try to sell the harvest. The mothers support each other, but despite their efforts, there is not enough money to feed the children.

Anastasia and her two brothers live in a children's home during the school year. Anastasia's mother is pregnant again. The family lives on the meager salary of the father, who cuts trees and can bring home around 135 euros a month for it. Like many families in the Pskov region, Anastasia's family owns a very old little dacha from the time of the Soviet Union. She has two small rooms that the family shares. There is no running water, an old wood stove is used for heating. The children are malnourished due to a lack of money, not to mention clothes, shoes and games that their parents cannot afford.

Daria is eight years old and comes from a particularly poor background. Her mother is an alcoholic and has no income whatsoever. Her father does not support the family after the divorce from Daria's mother. Daria's older brother is doing his military service. There are no relatives who can help and at least provide basic necessities such as food and clothing

What will help?

I organize the regular delivery of grocery bags and toiletries that are bought on site. They are intended for children and their families between June and August - for the poorest of the poor.

We are fortunate to live in peace in a democratic country that offers us social and medical support and security. We all have enough to eat every day. Our main concern is not to get seriously ill. Yes, we are very privileged in a world where so many families and children are suffering.

By the way:

If you take part in the “A family helps a family” campaign, you can also provide a photo of yourself if you want. This photo will then be given to the family along with the package. This can also be used to set a nice personal mark. If the Russian family agrees, we will try to send you a photo of the family.
